Changing various settings, like the logging mode (moored or profile) or external sensor input channels enabled, will change the bit length of the scans stored in memory. For this reason, the previously stored samples in memory will no longer be interpretable in the current configuration, and therefore are practically erased.  If you still need to download the samples in the memory, you must do so before continuing with changing sampling settings.
