Here are a few generally applicable deployment recommendations and tips for the HydroCAT-EP:

– Must be vertically deployed
– High suspended sediment/turbidity may call for more frequent visits by the user
– Need to purge the internal flow path
– Sedimentation can take a while to notice- up to around 4-6 weeks
– Gradual change in DO as sediment builds up in the 63 (bottom of the flow path)
– Fine, silty, easily suspended sediment usually causes this problem

– 300 second Fast pump before any sampling helps clear sedimentation
– Helps clear bubbles and small debris, too.

Other things to consider are making sure the pump stays submerged or below the water surface and far enough from the bottom to not pick up any unnecessary sediment or debris. If the pump runs in-air/dry for extended periods of time this can and may cause damage to the pump.
