When changing settings on my SBE19plusV2 or SBE16plusV2 SeaCAT, I receive the following message: “this command will change the scan length and/or initialize logging repeat the command to verify.” What does this mean?

Changing various settings, like the logging mode (moored or profile) or external sensor input channels enabled, will change the bit length of the scans stored in memory. For this reason, the previously stored samples in memory will no longer be interpretable in the current configuration and will be effectively erased. If you still need to download the samples in the memory, do this before continuing with changing sampling settings.
