Video: Replacing O-rings on a 9plus CTD

Pat, one of Sea-Bird Scientific’s Senior Service Technicians, graciously donned a head camera to demonstrate how he replaces O-rings on a 9plus endcap. Though this procedure is for a 9plus CTD, the general principles apply across instruments:

  1. Remove old O-rings
  2. Clean the O-ring surfaces (everywhere the O-rings touch)
  3. Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the O-ring surface
  4. Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the O-ring
  5. Clean up excess lubricant
  6. Inspect and close the housing
